| There are twelve (12) projects included in this section. Of these, six (6) are related to the design of the construction or reconstruction of stormwater improvements. The word "design" is indicated in parenthesis in the title for these projects. The construction phase of these projects is planned in later fiscal years due to their large scopes of work. The projects scheduled for "preliminary design " require detailed alternatives analysis typically requested by MO Department of natural resources and the us army Corp of Engineers prior to issuing permits for large stream channel projects. One project appropriates funds for detailed improvements study of Upper River Des Peres - University City Branch , this will be part of a cooperative effort between MSD, university city and the Corp of Engineers. This are of river DesPeres has experienced various levels of flooding and creek bank erosion. The FY 2006 program also provides supplemental funding to continue several programs including the District's share of the U.S. Geological Survey efforts relative to creek flow monitoring, a study to determine the feasibility of using existing District property as compensatory mitigation for creek improvement projects, and the identification of creek bank stabilization methods that will be effective in the St. Louis area.Additionally this year's program provides the initial funding for stormwater Facility Planning that will coordinate with Watershed Facility Planning (Infrastructure Engineering Projects) efforts to plan and prioritize stormwater replacement and renewal projects funded through the proposed stormwater rate. The total estimated cost of these twelve (12) projects is $4,444,000. |
